Assassination attack on the family of a well-known cricketer: Report

New Delhi: Police have arrested three accused in connection with the attack on the family of well-known cricketer Suresh Raina.

According to a report of a foreign news agency, on the night of August 19, the family of Suresh Raina faced assassination attempt in the village of Tharial in PS Shahpurkandi of Pathankot district.

Suresh Raina’s uncle Ashok Kumar, a contractor by profession, died on the spot, while his son Koshal Kumar died on August 31.

Media reports said that Ashok Kumar’s wife Asha Rani is still in critical condition, however, two others injured in the attack were discharged from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.

Police formed a team to investigate the murder. During the investigation, it was revealed that the attack was carried out by an inter-state gang which has been involved in several such cases in Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and various parts of Punjab.

One person was identified in the case and an investigation is underway to solve the arrests of 11 fugitives and other robbery cases.
