BCCI Announces Record Rs.131 Crore Cash Reward for India’s Back-to-Back T20 World Cup Winners

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared a massive Rs.131 crore cash prize for the Indian men’s cricket team following their historic triumph in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking a Rs.6 crore increase from the reward given after their 2024 victory.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the announcement on Tuesday, just two days after Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India crushed New Zealand by 96 runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. India posted a commanding 255/5, powered by standout knocks from Sanju Samson (89), Ishan Kishan (54), and Abhishek Sharma (52), before bowling out the Kiwis for 159, with Jasprit Bumrah claiming 4/15 and Axar Patel taking 3/27.

This dominant performance secured India’s third T20 World Cup title (after 2007 and 2024), making them the first team in tournament history to defend the crown successfully and the outright record holders for most wins.

The BCCI’s Rs.131 crore reward covers the playing squad, support staff, and selectors, reflecting the board’s tradition of generously honouring ICC successes. In addition, India received approximately Rs.27.5 crore as winners’ prize money from the ICC’s record total pool of USD 13.5 million.

Combined, the financial windfall for the Indian contingent approaches Rs.158.5 crore, one of the largest in cricket history for a single tournament victory.
