Body of Missing 5-Year-Old Boy Found 21 Years After Balakot Earthquake

In a heartbreaking and extraordinary development, the body of a five-year-old boy who went missing during the devastating October 8, 2005 earthquake in Balakot has been recovered 21 years later.

According to details, the child had disappeared when his family home collapsed during the catastrophic earthquake. Believing that he had died, the family had offered his funeral prayers in absentia after failing to locate his body despite extensive search efforts.

The family had made every possible attempt to recover the child’s remains from the rubble, but after repeated failures, they eventually accepted the tragedy, although the pain of losing their son remained with them throughout the years.

In a surprising turn of events, the boy’s body was discovered during excavation work for the reconstruction of the family home. After the remains were recovered, funeral prayers were offered once again, and he was laid to rest in the local graveyard.

The child’s father said that his five-year-old son, Jamal Shafiq, had been trapped under the debris when their house collapsed in the earthquake. He said the family searched for his body for a long time but could not find it.

He further explained that during the recent excavation, pieces of clothing were spotted beneath the soil. When the debris was removed, they found the body of Jamal Shafiq.

With tears in his eyes, the grieving father said that after enduring 21 years of pain and uncertainty, finding his son’s remains had finally brought a measure of peace to the family.
