BRICS Leaders Gather in New Delhi for Group Photograph

India: Leaders of BRICS member and partner countries, outreach invitees and heads of international organisations gathered for a group photograph at the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Sunday.

The photograph shows Modi standing at the centre of the group on a red carpet at Bharat Mandapam, with the BRICS summit logo and its theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” displayed in the background.

The two-day summit, being hosted by India under its BRICS chairship on September 12-13, brings together the expanded 11-member grouping comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, along with partner countries and other invited nations.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior leaders are attending the summit.

On the first day, BRICS leaders unanimously adopted the New Delhi Declaration, covering a wide range of issues including reform of global governance institutions, trade, terrorism, tensions in West Asia, technology, development and international cooperation.

China is scheduled to assume the BRICS chairship in 2027.
