Due to non-payment of dues, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has threatened to suspend airport services including passenger boarding bridge, aircraft power supply to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft from November 1, 2021.

According to the details, a dispute arose between the CAA and the PIA over non-payment, after which the authority decided to suspend the national airline’s airport services. The Director Finance of the Civil Aviation Authority has issued a notification suspending PIA’s airport services.

The notification said that the national carrier owes Rs127 billion to the aviation authority. Despite the promise, PIA did not pay monthly installments of Rs 250 million.

The notification said that from November 1, the regulatory body will not provide a bridge for passengers to board the aircraft nor will PIA be able to obtain power supply for the aircraft.

In addition, CAA has banned PIA from collecting airport charges from passengers, after which the aviation authority will collect airport service charges on its own from October 1, 2021.
