Lahore, 8th February: China donates COVID-19 vaccine to the armed forces in Pakistan.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, China has donated the coronavirus vaccines for Pakistan’s armed forces on Monday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had donated COVID-19 vaccines, making Pakistan’s military the first foreign military to receive vaccines from Beijing.

The statement by the ISPR said, “However, keeping with the Pakistan armed forces’ traditional spirit of ‘nation comes first, always and every time’ it has been decided to contribute the complete donation to the national vaccination drive [for] frontline healthcare workers across Pakistan who are the real heroes fighting against the pandemic and saving precious lives.”

It added, “Pakistan’s armed forces extend their deepest gratitude to PLA and the People’s Republic of China for this magnanimous donation during testing times.”

Meanwhile, Asad Umar, the Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives praised the military leadership’s decision to donate the vaccines.  He wrote on his official Twitter account:

He tweeted, “Great decision by the military leadership to hand over the consignment of vaccines sent by the people’s liberation army of china as a donation to the Pakistani military, consistent with govt decision of first priority to health care workers.”

It is to be noted that last week, vaccination drive against COVID-19 took off simultaneously in all the provinces of the country after 500,000 doses of Chinese-Sinopharm arrived in Islamabad as a gift from China.
