Chinese Muslims’ Restaurant in Kabul Destroyed in Attack

Afghanistan: A restaurant that once served as a gateway for Chinese Muslim trade in Afghanistan has now fallen into silence and ruin, a place where the table of commerce has been replaced by a mat of sorrow.

A year and a half ago, Al-Majid and his wife, both Muslims from China, in cooperation with an Afghan businessman, opened this restaurant in Kabul. Their goal was to promote halal business and build trade relations with Afghans. But around 3 p.m. on Monday, the establishment witnessed an incident that had nothing to do with commerce.

Khalid Zadran, spokesman for Kabul Security Command, said that seven people were killed in the attack, including a Chinese Muslim citizen named Ayub, and several others were injured.

Zadran added: “The explosion occurred near the kitchen. Investigations have been launched to determine the nature of the explosion, but they are not yet complete.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior said investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, stated: “We assure all citizens, especially foreign nationals, diplomatic missions, and all political and economic projects across the country, that national security is ensured, and we will increase our attention to this.”
