Coronavirus: Smuggling opportunist amid an outbreak

Islamabad, 13th March: According to the reports of Baaghi TV, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a probe into the case of smuggling of 20 million face masks out of Pakistan.

According to the notification issued by the agency, FIA’s director of Islamabad Zone has been directed to immediately investigate the allegations and submit a report within 15 days and take immediate action.

It is reported that 20 million facial masks were smuggled out of Pakistan allegedly by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza in coalition with Mr Ghazanfar Ali Khan Deputy Director of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).

The complaint was submitted by Young Pharmacists’ Association’s Secretary-General Dr Furqan Ibrahim with the Prime Minister’s Complaint Cell.

Coronavirus: Facial masks become rare

It is to be noted that amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country the need for the facial masks has increased but there is a shortage in the market. There are very few medical stores that are selling facial masks and N-95 masks that are advised by the health experts are not available.

On the other hand, the masks that are available are being sold on exuberantly high price, creating panic among citizens.

People are advised to take extra precautions and stay indoors, the federal government today has shut down all the educational institutes till the 5th of April to contain the spread of the virus.
