Court issues orders regarding the Roosevelt Hotel
Islamabad, 2nd November: Islamabad High Court has issued orders for the closure of Roosevelt Hotel.
According to Baaghi TV, a hearing was held on PIA’s petition against the closure of Roosevelt Hotel in New York.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Assistant Attorney General (AAG) to take instructions from the government and inform it at the next hearing.
The lawyer said the Roosevelt Hotel, a national building in New York, was being converted into apartments and offices, which the court said had been disposed of in the past, following a government statement.
Justice Amir Farooq remarked that the Assistant Attorney General should inform the government about the policy. The court, while seeking a reply, adjourned further hearing of the case for a week.
The petitioner asked the court to order the closure of the Roosevelt Hotel and resumption of business.
It is to be noted that the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice Javed Iqbal took notice of some media reports in which the famous Roosevelt Hotel of Pakistan, which has been located in New York for the last almost 100 years, was closed from October 31, 2020. DG NAB Rawalpindi has been issued orders to investigate.
The investigation will look into why the Roosevelt Hotel, located in the heart of New York City, USA, needed to be closed, especially the reasons why the government of Pakistan allegedly lost millions of dollars.
In addition, those responsible will be identified as those who allegedly failed to perform their national duties and did not play a role in making the Hotel in New York City, USA, very profitable.
The hotel, named after US President Theodore Roosevelt, opened on September 23, 1924, and is now worth about 1 billion dollars.
News of US President Trump’s offer to buy the hotel is also making headlines on social media. A consultant was hired to review the hotel’s operation in a joint venture.
