COVID-19: Spain records a death toll of 738 in a day

Spain, 25th March: Spain has recorded more than 700 deaths in the past 24 hours surpassing the death toll in China, making the country second most effected after Italy.

According to the sources, Spain has recorded a death toll of 738 in a day, which is the deadliest toll for a single day, thus making Spain the second after Italy.

The coronavirus death toll in Spain has climbed to 3,434, surpassing China in an overall number of deaths. The overall number of cases in Spain has increased by 20 percent to 47,610 from 39,673 on Tuesday, said Spain’s Ministry of Health.

The outbreak has hit Spain the hardest, especially in the central region around Madrid, with one-third of the positive cases and half of the casualties. Madrid city hall has been turned into a morgue to deal with the surging number of dead bodies. Spanish authorities have also set up a field hospital in the capital’s Ifema congress center to handle the coronavirus patients.

China sends third group of medical experts to Italy

The elderly in Spain are found dead and abandoned in their homes by the soldiers who went out to help fight against the contagious virus. Spanish defense minister, Margarita Robles, said the government would not tolerate the mistreatment of older people in retirement homes during the crisis.

Over 111,000 of the 435,000 people diagnosed with the disease have recovered globally, according to the data collected by Johns Hopkins University. More than 19,000 people worldwide have died from COVID-19.
