Daughter of revolutionary poet Habib Jalib opens dhaba for economic independence

Tahira Habib Jalib, daughter of the late revolutionary poet Habib Jalib and vice president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Lahore, has started her own dal-chawal dhaba in a bid to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

Speaking to the media, she said she is “the labourer’s daughter of a labourer father.” She previously drove an Uber but quit due to soaring petrol prices and has now set up the roadside eatery. “I have never felt any shame in hard work,” she stated, adding that the dhaba is meant purely for the poor, labourers and the elderly. She transports supplies in her car and takes them back the same way.

Tahira Habib Jalib noted that as a PPP office-bearer, President Asif Ali Zardari would surely be pleased to see her efforts, since the party is known as the party of the working class. She appealed to the public to support and encourage her.
