‘Endia’ trends as Twitterati quip about ‘Fantastic Tea’

Twitterati share their thoughts on the Indian government’s recent decision to award Abhinandan Varthaman for allegedly “shooting down F-16” in Pakistan. 

Taking to the social networking website, Twitter, social media users are jesting about the recent decision to grant a military award to Indian Air Force pilot, Abhinandan Varthaman. Broadcast journalist Jameel Farooqui, joined the trend and commented this “confidence” is needed in life.

Farooqui tweeted, “There should be so much “confidence” in life that even if a person gets beaten up and drinks a million dollars worth of “tea”, he can stand up and take the award. This confidence is a state of mind that has no boundaries. Take a look around you! You will see dozens of such “diamonds” chilling.”

Twitter user Ayesha Waseem tweeted, “Lol thats the way history must be written…” Waseem added that Varthaman will be “remembered for his “bravery” by Endia” but that is how history is written.

Another user by the name of General Vir Chakra alluded to India’s recent loss to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021 and said, “If you get a Vir Chakra for having your arse handed back to you by Pakistan, then when do these guys get their award?”

Twitter user Malik Gulam Mustafa tweeted, “they are shameless people who never accept their defeat” adding that the truth cannot change. He ended the tweet with the hashtag: #Endia.

One Twitter user joked “Endia please wait the video to release by ISPR”. Meanwhile, Professor of Peace and Conflict Research at the Uppsala University, Ashok Swain tweeted, “If giving medals make you win the war, the Soviet Union would have won the war in Afghanistan and not collapsed!”.

It is pertinent to note that the Indian Air Force carried out an illegal surgical strike in 2019 by entering Pakistan’s air space. On this occasion, the Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was shot down and beaten up by the locals. According to media reports at the time, the Pakistan government announced the intrusion on the 26th of February, 2019. Moreover, Indian authorities confirmed they had carried out the surgical strike in what was considered a “retaliation to the Pulwama attack”.
