Addressing the inaugural session of the seminar organized by the Pak-Afghan Trade and Investment Forum, Prime Minister Imran Khan said, “We have been in touch with Afghanistan for years. Afghanistan has been gaining importance in the region everywhere, unfortunately for 40 years Afghanistan has been in turmoil. Pakistan suffered the most from the chaos in Afghanistan, yet we have not learned from the past.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the people of Afghanistan will have to make their own decisions. External pressure cannot impose an opinion on the people of Afghanistan. We tried to befriend India but failed. We will still try to extend a hand of friendship to India. We realized that, India is ideologically against Pakistan, the Modi government in India is against the Muslims of their own country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that efforts will continue for development in Afghanistan and Pakistan as peace will come in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other regions will benefit. We must move towards trade, economy and peace from the past. Promoting public and political relations in both countries is the top priority of the government. Prosperity will come to the region through trade.

Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that man learns from the past, but does not live in the past. We must learn from the past, Pakistan will maintain strong ties with any government in Afghanistan. In 72 years, there has been no such anti-Muslim government in India. Afghanistan has been in turmoil for 40 years. People from Afghanistan used to go to Calcutta for trade. Pak-Afghan relations have a history, with the Afghan war causing the most damage to Pakistan.
