The final journey of popular Pakistani TikToker Ayesha Gilamana (real name Shamsu Bibi / Shamsoo Bibi) concluded with her funeral prayer offered in Faisal Hills, Islamabad. The 28-year-old content creator, who had amassed approximately 1.3 million followers on TikTok, was gunned down in a targeted shooting in Taxila on Friday evening, August 14.

According to the First Information Report lodged by her father, Fazal Sahibzada, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. Gilamana received a phone call from a man identified as Kashif, who urged her to leave the house immediately. She then left home in a black Honda car registration BW-609 accompanied by her 15-year-old sister Asima and brother Nematullah.

Near a petrol station on the Taxila bypass on GT Road, two unidentified men aged between 30 and 35, riding a motorcycle, approached the vehicle from the right side. The pillion rider opened fire, striking Gilamana twice in the neck. She died at the scene. The vehicle then lost control and collided with a passing dumper truck, leaving her younger sister critically injured. Asmiya was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad for treatment.

Fazal Sahibzada, a native of Lower Dir who had been living with his family in Faisal Hills, Taxila, for the past seven to eight months, identified his daughter’s body at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila. He stated that Gilamana had been active on TikTok for three to four years and had built a significant online following. The family later deactivated her social media account.

The father alleged that the killing stemmed from a monetary dispute. Gilamana had financial dealings with two men named Kausar and Javaid Shaheen, who had reportedly failed to repay money owed to her. She had received death threats over the demands for repayment and had previously filed a complaint against them in Islamabad. Kashif, who called her out of the house, is also under suspicion of involvement.

Taxila police have registered a case under sections related to murder, attempted murder, and criminal conspiracy. As of the latest reports, the nominated suspects remain at large, and investigations, including examination of CCTV footage from the area, are ongoing.

Gilamana’s funeral prayer was offered in Faisal Hills, Islamabad. Social media users noted the stark contrast between her large online following and the sparse attendance at the funeral, with reports indicating only a small number of people were present.

The limited turnout has sparked widespread discussion online, with many observing that fame, followers, and social media popularity are fleeting. Commentators have used the moment to urge young people, particularly content creators, not to compromise their dignity or self-respect in pursuit of views and followers on platforms like TikTok, emphasizing that both good and bad deeds are remembered long after online metrics fade.
