Federal Minister for Finance directs NPMC to reduce price gaps between growers and retailers
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin ordered the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) to ensure a comprehensive strategy to decrease the prices gap between growers and retailers.
He stated that this deduction in price gap would lower the prices of the basic necessities of the people.
The meeting was also attended by SAPM on Finance and Revenue, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Secretary Finance Division, all Chief Secretaries, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, representatives of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives and other relevant departments.
He briefed the media that our PM aims to ease the lives of the poor people of Pakistan. Many different schemes are in the works and many more initiatives are listed to improve the life of a common man.
He added that the budget presented this year targets the poor and middle class of our country.
All departments and organizations should play a major role to help PM in his new initiatives and contribute to improve the lives of the under privileged.
During the meeting, the Secretary Finance briefed that the weekly SPI decreased by 0.59 % during the last week and a week earlier the weekly SPI declined by 0.61 percent.
He explained that it SPI has been declining past three weeks. While the prices of 09 items were reduced, prices of 28 items remained stable and prices of 14 items were slightly raised.
The minister issued directions to relevant departments to maintain the strategic reserves of basic necessities and ensure appropriate measures to avoid any mismanagement.
