FIA Multan Airport Uncovers Human Trafficking Network Under Umrah Visa Cover
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Wing at Multan Airport has foiled an alleged human trafficking and sexual exploitation scheme operating under the guise of Umrah travel, officials said.
Two passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visas aboard Pakistan flight PF-702 were intercepted after immigration officials noticed suspicious activities during the clearance process. They were referred to the shift in-charge for further questioning.
During an examination of the passengers’ mobile phones, chats and other digital material, investigators allegedly found evidence linked to sexual exploitation. Initial questioning also revealed important details about an alleged organised network involved in facilitating the exploitation of travellers in Saudi Arabia.
According to preliminary investigations, an agent had arranged the passengers’ travel to Saudi Arabia using Umrah visas, allegedly with the intention of subjecting them to sexual exploitation after their arrival.
The passengers’ mobile phones and other relevant material were taken into custody for further investigation. Both individuals, along with the recovered evidence, were subsequently handed over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Multan.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Circle has launched a detailed investigation and expanded its probe to identify other individuals allegedly involved in the network.
The FIA Multan spokesperson said legal action would be taken against all elements found involved in human trafficking and sexual exploitation in accordance with the law.
