Five Indian Air Force Personnel Killed in AN-32 Transport Aircraft Crash in Assam

Five Indian Air Force personnel were killed after an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed during a routine flight operation at the Jorhat Air Force Station in the northeastern state of Assam, officials confirmed.

According to an official statement issued by the Indian Air Force, the aircraft met with an accident while landing, triggering a fire that engulfed the aircraft. Emergency response teams rushed to the scene and initiated rescue and firefighting operations.

The deceased personnel have been identified as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveer Vayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveer Vayu Danish Alam.

A co-pilot who survived the crash sustained injuries and was immediately evacuated for medical treatment. His condition is being closely monitored by medical authorities.

The Indian Air Force has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and announced that a formal investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident.

The AN-32 is a twin-engine military transport aircraft widely used by the Indian Air Force for logistics, troop transport, and operational support missions across the country. Officials said further details will be released following the completion of the preliminary inquiry.
