Aug 10, 2021: The Islamic Ideological Council (CII) on Monday strongly condemned the attack on a Hindu temple in Bhong Sharif district of Rahim Yar Khan district.

In a statement, CII said the assailants who vandalised the hindu temple site had violated important national documents such as the Paigham-e-Pakistan as well as the Constitution, which guaranteed the protection of the lives, property and worship places of all resident non-Muslims.

It said that no individual or group could be allowed to demolish or besiege the holy places of any religion, so any such act is a clear violation of Islamic law.

The CII said the vandalism of the hindu temple by miscreants had dealt a severe blow to the country’s ongoing efforts for inter-faith harmony, which had tarnished the country’s aspirations for peace and security.

Responding to immediate action by Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Punjab government and the arrest of the culprits, the council welcomed the government’s decision to rebuild the collapsed temple.

The CII statement added that “the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken commendable steps in taking timely action, which will lead to significant progress in bringing the miscreants to justice.”

On Friday, the National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution condemning the attack on the hindu temple, calling it a conspiracy to damage the country’s soft image.

The house was informed that the government has taken notice of the incident, while a police case has been registered and action has been taken to arrest those responsible for damaging the hindu temple.
