Lahore, 13th August: Veteran Hollywood actress Una Stubbs known for her role in the famous ‘Sherlock Holmes series had passed away at the age of 84.

According to details, Una Stubbs, who appeared in some of the best-loved shows on British TV from the 1960s to the 2010s, died at the age of 84.

The veteran British actress was best known for her role as Mrs. Hudson, the landlady to actor Benedict Cumberbatch in the BBC series “Sherlock,” died on Thursday at her home in Edinburgh.

Her agent, Rebecca Blond confirmed the news of the actress’s death. Stubbs agent paid tribute to her as “a wonderful actress” and “graceful, gracious and kind and constant friend”.

Blond told BBC News that the veteran actress had been ill for a few months.

Una Stubbs found fame in 1963 in Cliff Richard’s film ‘Summer Holiday’ before she starred in the hit sitcom ‘Till Death Us Do Part.’

The actress also appeared in shows like Worzel Gummidge, The Worst Witch, EastEnders and Sherlock.

Stubbs started her career as a dancer, but soon became a fixture on the small screen in the 60s when she played Alf Garnett’s daughter Rita in ‘Till Death Us Do Part’ and its follow-up in the 1980s ‘Till Death and In Sickness and In Health.’

Her career spans a period of more than 50 years.
