India Imposes Strict Night Curfew and Border Restrictions along India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan

Indian Authorities have enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita across a 3-kilometer belt along the India-Pakistan border in Sri Ganganagar district, imposing tight restrictions until September 15, 2026.

The order, issued by district authorities, bans public movement and assembly between 7 PM and 6 AM in the designated border zone. Entry into the area is heavily restricted, while the use of high-beam vehicle headlights at night, DJ and music systems, and firecrackers has also been prohibited.

Officials cited heightened security concerns, including risks of infiltration, anti-national activities, and a significant increase in drone-assisted heroin smuggling attempts along the Rajasthan-Pakistan border as the primary reasons for the curbs.

The measures aim to strengthen border security and curb cross-border smuggling and illegal activities in the sensitive region.
