India–US Relations Enter Turbulent Phase, Says Jairam Ramesh

Indian National Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has stated that India-US relations have entered extremely turbulent times, with a fresh challenge emerging every day.
In a statement in New Delhi, he said that despite Prime Minister Modi’s conciliatory statements and social media posts, an extraordinary new trend is visible in India-US relations.
He pointed out that US Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of President Trump, is pushing a bill that could impose severe sanctions on India due to its trade and other relations with Russia.
Jairam Ramesh wrote on social media that earlier, Senator Bernie Moreno had also introduced a bill proposing a 25% tax on outsourcing payments by American companies. According to him, all these measures are causing serious concern for India.
The Congress leader further said that India’s anxiety increases further when President Trump is seen continuously praising Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir. In his words, undoubtedly a new abnormality has emerged in bilateral relations, and despite the Prime Minister’s conciliatory efforts, every day is turning into a new test.
