Indian Tourist Assaulted in Pattaya Over Alleged Payment Dispute with Transgender Sex Workers

A 52-year-old Indian tourist was hospitalized after being assaulted by a group of transgender women in Thailand’s popular nightlife district, following a dispute reportedly over payment for sexual services.

The incident occurred near the beachside entrance to Walking Street in South Pattaya, a bustling area known for its bars, clubs, and entertainment venues.

Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation responded to reports of an injured foreigner around 5:30 a.m. They found the victim, identified as Raj Jasuja, with visible injuries to his face and the back of his head. He received first aid at the scene before being transferred to a local hospital for further treatment.

According to witnesses, including a 19-year-old Thai man named Phongphon (or Pongpol Boonchid in some reports), the altercation began as an argument between Jasuja and a transgender sex worker. The dispute escalated when the worker allegedly called friends, leading to a group assault on the tourist.

Local media reports indicate the conflict stemmed from Jasuja allegedly refusing to pay the full agreed amount for services.

Pattaya police have stated they will pursue an investigation once Jasuja recovers sufficiently to file a formal complaint. Authorities plan to review CCTV footage from the area.

While Pattaya remains a top destination for nightlife tourism, such events underscore ongoing concerns about safety in the area’s red-light districts. No arrests have been reported as of January 4, 2026.
