Indonesia Set to Become First Foreign Customer for India’s Astra Mk-1 BVR Air-to-Air Missile

Indonesia is poised to become the first overseas buyer of India’s indigenously developed Astra Mk-1 beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile, with the landmark deal expected to be advanced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing visit to the country.
Defence sources indicate that discussions on the acquisition of the Astra Mk-1, including its integration with Indonesian Su-30 fighter aircraft, are making significant progress as part of enhanced bilateral defence cooperation.
The Astra Mk-1 is an all-weather missile capable of engaging aerial targets at ranges beyond 100 kilometres. Developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), it has been tested and integrated with the Indian Air Force’s Su-30MKI fleet.
