Iranian Pilgrims Arrive in Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2026

Iranian citizens are participating in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage after Tehran and Riyadh reached a coordination agreement, with the first groups of pilgrims already welcomed warmly in Medina.

According to Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, around 30,000 Iranian pilgrims will travel to Mecca and Medina for Hajj 2026. The first flight carrying approximately 260 pilgrims landed in Medina on April 27, with more groups arriving in the following days.

Saudi authorities greeted the arriving pilgrims with flowers, flower crowns, and traditional hospitality. Arrangements for accommodation, transportation, medical services, and logistics have been finalized in coordination with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The participation follows a formal bilateral agreement signed between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Although the number is lower than in some previous years, the process is proceeding smoothly, with both sides ensuring the safety and comfort of the pilgrims.

No ban has been imposed by Saudi Arabia on Iranian pilgrims. Officials from both countries have confirmed full operational readiness for the pilgrimage season.
