According to reports of Baaghi TV, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has been accused of violating Senate rules and regulations. Sanjrani was elected into office and assumed charge of his position in Senate on 12th March, 2018.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, the Senate Secretariat received a requisition on the 16th of December, 2020 for summoning a session of the Senate by the Chairman Senate under Clause (3) of Article 61 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The requisition agenda focused on five points including:

- Discussion and admitting of Privilege motion moved by Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani against NAB officials;
- Discussion and adoption of two resolutions against NAB;
- Discussion on alleged crackdown against opposition workers in the country, such as the matter of alleged rigging in Gilgit-Baltistan elections.
As per the list of instructions to conduct business during a requisition session, it is understood that priority must be given to matter mentioned in the requisition. The Senate Secretariat must communicate the matters discussed with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs which would then consider the matter for further action. It is further understood that such issues are to be placed under the Orders of the Day.

According to reports, the process of taking up such matters is to be done through a motion under Rule 218, from the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012. Moreover, the Notice in terms of Rule 218 will be considered received on the date when the requisition is received in the Senate Secretariat. The requirement of Notice Period of seven days will not be applicable in this insistence.

However, according to reports of Baaghi TV, the Senate Secretariat has issued a notice “Summoning of a Requisition session of the Senate” to Senator Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate stating that “admitting a privilege motion and adoption of resolution during a requisitioned session is not covered in the Constitution, the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012 or the Standing Orders.”

It is pertinent to note that the “object of a requisition meeting is that if there is an important issue before the country or a formal respectable and sizeable section of the people feel, then there must be a session in which points can be aired… A debate in the House and a meeting of the House is always welcome to the people.”

However, as per the notice received by Senator Raja Muhammad Zafar-ul-Haq, it is “requested that revised agenda for the requisitioned session may kindly be provided in the light of the above”. According to reports of Baaghi TV, Chairman Sanjrani first refused to admit the privilege motion and then stopped the agenda which shows the violation of Senate Rules by Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Chairman Senate.
