Islamabad: Work has started on the first plastic road , a kilometer of plastic road is being constructed on Ataturk Avenue.

According to sources, Last month pilot project had been initiated in F-9 park for the road. Third party engineering results were obtained from the pilot project. After successful and encouraging results, the project has now been formally launched.

It is also learned that one kilometer of plastic road on Ataturk Avenue will be completed in two days. One kilometer of plastic road will use 170 tons of plastic waste. Plastic road will be more sustainable than conventional road. According to Pakistan’s vision, the construction of plastic roads will have a positive impact on the environment. The CDA is ready to provide assistance for the construction of plastic roads in other cities of the country as well.

Rapid advances in science and technology are causing changes in various areas of life. These include the construction sector. Today, in some countries, including China, houses and high-rise buildings are being built with the help of 3D printers.

Until a few years ago, no one could have imagined that a house would be built in a few hours by assembling the ‘printed’ walls and ceilings with the help of a 3D printer. Based on this idea, a Dutch company has started work on a project to build a ‘paved’ road. Under this project, large pieces will be laid on the ground to form a road, but the important thing is that the pieces will be plastic, not asphalt or concrete!

According to a construction company called Walker Vessels, the “plastic road” construction project aims to provide an alternative to traditional asphalt roads. This is due to the fact that roads made of conventional materials have to be repaired or rebuilt after a breakdown.
In addition, the cost of construction and repair is high. In most countries civic bodies are unable to carry out repairs or build new roads due to lack of budget and people face problems. Delays in this regard make the condition of broken roads worse. Pits fall on them which cause accidents. In addition, there are traffic jams and the body of vehicles is also damaged due to potholes.

The Dutch company is working on a plastic road project to address the above situation. Under the project, large plastic tiles will be made and laid together on the ground like Lego bricks. According to the company working on the project, the roads constructed in this way will be unique and in many ways different from ordinary roads. Asphalt or coal is used in the construction of ordinary roads.

Heating it releases pollutants and unhealthy gases into the air. On the contrary, the pieces made for the plastic road will be environmentally friendly, as they will be made of recycled plastic. In this way, they will also help reduce environmental pollution.

In case of damage to any part of the plastic road, only this piece will be uprooted and replaced with new tile.

According to the construction company, the plastic road will be a low cost project. In addition, if damaged for any reason, its repair will cost less than normal roads. Another characteristic of plastic road is its ability to retain its shape even in extreme temperatures. When the temperature rises above 45 degrees Celsius, the tarmac roads do not retain their shape.
