Israel farmer breaks records for 'heaviest' Strawberry #Baaghi

Israel: Chahi Ariel, an Israeli farmer, has reportedly broken Japanese records by growing the heaviest strawberry in the world, according to reports by the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

According to reports, weighing approximately 289 grams, the berry has been declared the world’s largest by the Guinness World Records. The weight is reported to be five times that of an average strawberry.

According to SCMP, Ariel reportedly kept the berry in the freezer till the record was confirmed. In addition, the berry was picked from the family’s farm in central Israel, near the city of Netanya, in February of 2021, however, the record for ‘heaviest’ strawberry was only confirmed this week. The strawberry is reportedly a locally grown variety and is known for its big size.

Speaking to media about the record-breaking feat, Chahi Ariel said that keeping it in the freezer for almost a year has shrunken the size by half. Ariel added, “It’s no longer as pretty as it was”. Ariel further stated that the family is “very happy” to have their record documented in the world records.

It is pertinent to note that the previous record-holder for the heaviest strawberry was a Japanese fruit back in 2015. It was reported to be 250 grams at the time.
