Kayne Williamson labels cancellation of Pakistan tour a "real shame"

Sept 22, 2021: New Zealand’s all-format captain, Kane Williamson, has expressed his disappointment at New Zealand Cricket’s (NZC) decision to abandon their tour of Pakistan abruptly. Williamson labeled the incident as a ‘real shame’.

Williamson stated that Pakistan is one of the most passionate cricketing nations in the world and expressed his disappointment at the way things panned out. He said that he feels the sentiment of the Pakistani fans who were looking forward to New Zealand’s historic tour of the country.

Kayne Williamson was hopeful that cricket will resume in Pakistan in the near future and every cricketing nation will tour the country to play bilateral series. He said that as a professional cricketer, he looks forward to playing cricket in every nation and Pakistan is one of the most passionate cricketing nations in the world.

The Kiwi captain is currently in the UAE to take part in the IPL. Williamson will lead New Zealand in the highly-anticipated encounter against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held on 26 October.

Williamson said, “You want the game to play in all the countries, hoping that the move by New Zealand does not impact the future of cricket in Pakistan. It’s an international game and the world is passionate about it, in Pakistan especially.”
