A contempt of court petition has been filed against the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Malik Sulman, Manager Walton Airport, Lahore, for allegedly violating the court orders.

According to the details, the case (case # 54133/21) will be heard on September 10, 2021 (tomorrow) by Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Justice Ali Baqir Najafi. Sources reveal that a contempt notice was issued to the CAA and Manager Walton Airport Malik Sulman over not complying with the court order as well as not assisting the court with facts.

The case will be heard in the Justice A.S. Salam Block – Court 7 of the Lahore High Court tomorrow.

It is to be noted that on July 09, 2021 (Friday), the LHC allowed flying activities at Walton Airport initially for eight weeks. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard several petitions against taking over of the airport by the Punjab government and hindrance in the lawful business of Lahore Flying Club.

The judge asked a counsel for the CAA how long it would take to set up an alternate venue for Walton Airport. The counsel said it would take eight to 22 weeks for the shifting of the infrastructure to a new place.

At this, Justice Najafi directed the CAA that all flying activities be restored for a minimum period of eight weeks, after which the court would see if the alternative provided was suitable or not.
