India: A large-scale search operation by the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and Marine Police is intensifying across the Bay of Bengal in a determined effort to locate six fishermen who have been missing since July 1. The mechanised vessel INDAP-VS-MM-83 encountered severe rough weather and a suspected mechanical failure while returning from a fishing trip, leading to the distress situation.

Seven crew members had set sail from the Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour. One fisherman was successfully rescued by a passing merchant vessel, raising hopes amid the ongoing crisis. However, the fate of the remaining six continues to cause deep concern as rescue teams push forward despite challenging sea conditions.

The missing fishermen belong to fishing communities in villages across Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. Their families remain in a state of anxious vigil, awaiting any positive development from the authorities.

Search teams are systematically covering key areas, including waters from Bhimunipatnam through the port anchorage to Gangavaram and Pudimadaka coasts, based on the vessel’s last known position and possible drift patterns. Helicopters and patrol boats have been deployed to expand the search radius.

As efforts continue round-the-clock, officials and the community hold onto hope for a safe resolution, with all available resources mobilized to trace the missing crew members.
