Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict, Azerbaijan to meet with the OSCE?

Fresh shelling in the Nagorno-Karabakh region foils plans of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, to meet with leaders of the OSCE, as conflict continues post-failure to negotiate ceasefire.

According to reports, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov was set to visit the leaders of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s (OSCE) Minsk Group. However, fresh shelling in the region, prevented the first meeting of international mediators, from taking place in Geneva.

Ceasefire efforts fail between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Jeyhun Bayramov, FM Azerbaijan was to meet with the diplomates of global powers namely, France, Russia and the United States to seek a solution to the Nagoro-Karabakh conflict since the early 1990s. It is to be noted that Armenian leadership will not be attending.

It is to be noted that Zohrab Mnatsakanyan will meet with his Russian counterpart in Moscow on Monday. According to reports of AFP, explosions heard in the regional capital of Nagoro-Karabakh. Apart from bombardments in Stepanakert, authorities in Azerbaijan claimed that shelling in the region led to deaths of many.

As reported earlier by Baaghi TV, renewed fighting has displaced nearly half Nagoro-Karabakh’s residents, forcing residents out of their homes. Previously also, Azerbaijani and Armenian forces have clashed for a number of days, with both staking claim on the disputed territory while Azerbaijan has the legal right to occupation as Nagorno-Karabakh is an internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan.

It is pertinent to note that leaders of the international community have called for a ceasefire with Russian President, Vladimir Putin stating the urgency of a halt. Turkey continues to extend unconditional support to Azerbaijan and urges the global community to stand with the truth. According to reports,  Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Chavushoglu said, “It is our duty to convey Azerbaijan’s just struggle to the world.”
