NDMA starts plasma donation helpline, provides portable ventilators

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has started a dedicated helpline for plasma donation to combat the coronavirus pandemic. 

In a statement, the NDMA Spokesperson said people who have recovered from coronavirus can contact the helpline at 0304-111-01-61 for plasma donation. He further said an officer of NDMA has been appointed as focal person for registration of data and the helpline will remain open 24/7.

However, the donor’s name and other personal information will be kept confidential.

Moreover, NDMA has provided 90 more portable ventilators to all provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

According to a statement issued by NDMA, Punjab and Sindh have been given 25 portable ventilators each while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Balochistan have been provided 15 and 10 ventilators, respectively.

It said five portable ventilators were provided to hospitals in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and five in Islamabad while Gilgit-Baltistan has already received different types of ventilators along with five portable ventilators.

The statement said these ventilators can be installed in ambulances and can also be moved from one bed to another bed on requirement.
