One Killed in Abu Dhabi Missile Strike; Fire Erupts at Fujairah Oil Facility
A Palestinian national was killed Monday when a missile struck a civilian vehicle in Abu Dhabi’s Al Bahia district, authorities confirmed, as the United Arab Emirates continues to face spillover attacks linked to the ongoing US-Israel-Iran war.
The incident marks the latest civilian casualty in a series of Iranian-origin missile and drone strikes that have targeted the UAE since late February. UAE air defenses intercepted most incoming threats, but falling debris or direct impacts have caused mounting damage and loss of life.
In a separate development on the east coast, a fire broke out at an oil industry site in Fujairah following a drone attack. Emergency teams contained the blaze, though some oil loading operations at the key export hub, located outside the Strait of Hormuz, were temporarily suspended. No injuries were immediately reported from the Fujairah incident.
Khaleej Times cited official sources in breaking coverage of both events, describing them as part of Day 17 of the broader conflict. The UAE Ministry of Defence has previously stated that Iranian ballistic missiles and drones have been responsible for the majority of attacks, with cumulative figures showing at least six deaths and over 140 injuries nationwide from debris and failed interceptions since the war intensified.
The strikes highlight growing regional escalation, with Iran vowing retaliation for US and Israeli military operations on its territory, including threats to Gulf energy infrastructure. UAE officials have repeatedly called for de-escalation and an end to attacks on neighboring states to enable any diplomatic resolution.
Civil aviation, port operations, and daily life in major emirates like Abu Dhabi and Dubai have faced intermittent disruptions, with safety alerts issued periodically. Global oil markets remain volatile amid concerns over potential further disruptions to Gulf energy flows.
