Pak embassy in Ukraine to evacuate remaining Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s embassy in Ukraine is making all possible efforts to evacuate remaining Pakistani nationals at the earliest. In a statement, the embassy stated that most Pakistanis, on its advice, have already left Ukraine. 

The mission has also established different focal points for facilitation and evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Ukraine. It is providing accomodation to students in Ternopil and transportation wherever possible especially from Lyiv to border crossings.

Given the precarious situation in Kharkiv, the embassy said rest of the students will be evacuated as soon as situation improves. It said that majority of students from Kharkiv have already been shifted to Poland and Romania.

Ukraine attack: Pakistani students face difficulty in flying back home

According to the details, the Pakistanis were being evacuated from Ternopil and Lviv to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Romania and the embassy was coordinating with the respective missions there for the onward facilitation.

About 4,ooo Pakistani nationals, mostly married to Ukrainians, had already left on the advice of the mission whereas 3,000 students also left the war zone while the remaining 600-700 students were being evacuated.

A total of 8 Pakistanis had crossed over to Poland. In total, 137 Pakistanis have been evacuated on Sunday noon.

As per embassy the majority of students from Kharkiv have already reached Lviv and departed to Poland border.

Poland assures ‘full support’ to evacuate Pakistanis in Ukraine

To speed up the process of evacuation of Pakistanis stranded in Ukraine, Minister of Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi held a telephonic conversation with his counterpart Zbigniew Rau on Monday and discussed bilateral ties as well as queries and concerns to evacuate Pakistanis from Ukraine.

The Polish minister promised full suppport and facilitation in the evacuation process.
