Feb 1, 2022: As per data from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) on Tuesday morning, for the first time since January 19, Pakistan reported a positive COVID-19 ratio of less than 10%.

However, for the fourth day in a row, the number of active cases in the country remained above 100,000. The number of daily cases in the country also declined in the last 24 hours as 5,327 out of 55,202 diagnostic tests conducted across the country tested positive, according to data released by the NCOC. With this slight reduction, Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to 9.65%.

This is closest to what was reported on January 19, when the positivity rate was 9.48 percent.

With the new infections placing Pakistan’s total confirmed case count at 1,430,366, the active case count clocked in at 105,675. While with 32 more people dying from the coronavirus, means Pakistan’s COVID-19 death toll npw stands at 29,301.

As per the NCOC website, “Omicron variant continues spreading countrywide. Please ensure you are fully vaccinated, received booster dose (if eligible) and follow SOPs including mask wearing and social distancing. Take special care of elderly as admissions and mortality rate is higher in older people.”

The forum further stated that existing NPIs announced till 31 Jan 22 are hereby extended till 15 Feb 22. Fresh review will be carried out on 10 Feb 22. Earlier, the NCOC had imposed non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) on January 19, which were to be reviewed on January 27 in light of the COVID-19 situation in the country.
