PM Announces Final Text Reached for US-Iran Peace Deal

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Friday that a final, agreed-upon text for a comprehensive peace deal between the United States and Iran has been reached after months of indirect and mediated negotiations.

In a statement, Sharif confirmed: “Amid ongoing intense mediation efforts by Pakistan, we are fully aware of incessant misinformation campaign being waged by those who want to sabotage the peace deal. Setting aside the noise, we can confirm that a final, agreed upon text of the peace deal has been reached and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to finalize the next steps. Peace has never been this close as it is now.”

Pakistan has played a central mediating role since early April 2026, when it helped broker an initial two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran amid escalating conflict that included strikes on Iranian targets, Iranian responses, and a naval blockade affecting the Strait of Hormuz.

Talks hosted in Islamabad initially focused on extending the fragile ceasefire, reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz for global oil shipments, addressing Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief, and broader regional stability. Diplomatic efforts involving Pakistan continued in the following months despite occasional clashing public statements from both sides.

The announcement comes amid sensitivity in global markets to uncertainty around oil flows and the potential for renewed hostilities. Details of the final text have not been publicly released, and officials from Washington and Tehran have yet to issue immediate confirmations.
