Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan takes notice on the non-availability of medicines for coronavirus treatment in the country.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the coronavirus situation.

The meeting was attended by Information Minister Shibli Faraz, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Interior Minister Ijaz Shah, Industries and Production Minister Muhammad Hammad Azhar, Finance Advisor Dr Hafeez Sheikh and Special Assistant for Information Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa.

Moreover, Dr. Faisal Sultan, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and senior officers also attended the meeting.

The meeting considered the current status of coronavirus, estimates for the next few days and steps to be taken to deal with the situation. The current situation of beds, oxygen, ventilators and facilities available for corona patients in different provinces of the country and the steps to be taken to increase it were also reviewed.

Punjab government imposes lockdown in Lahore

The meeting was informed that at present, 107 corona testing laboratories are functioning in the country and 25,000 tests are being conducted on departure basis. In the beginning, there were only two of them. The meeting was informed that there are currently 4,800 ventilators in the country. In the beginning their total number was seven hundred.

There will be an increase of 1600 in the existing 4,800 ventilators very soon. N-95 and ventilators are being manufactured locally in the country.

The meeting was informed that by July, 2,000 more coveted beds would be added in different hospitals in all the provinces. With reference to Smart Lockdown in Corona Affected Areas, the meeting was informed that the 20 major cities of the country have identified the places where the number of Corona affected people is high and where administrative measures have been taken by the provincial governments and district administrations.

Corona-virus continues to spread in Pakistan

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that all the requirements of Corona related protective clothing and personal protective kits across the country are being met in an efficient manner.

Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the spread of Corona could be effectively stopped thanks to security measures. The people have a key role to play in this regard. All possible steps are being taken by the government in view of the estimates made so far, but the cooperation of the people in this regard has played an important role in making the government’s efforts a success.

PM Pakistan not in favor of the emergency lockdown

The Prime Minister directed that all the local leadership and leadership with the help of the administration in their respective areas should not only review the coveted facilities in the hospitals but also play a proactive role in ensuring the co-operation of the people of their respective constituencies in terms of security measures.

Instructions have been issued to the provinces for smart lockdown in the affected areas. In this regard, steps should be taken keeping in view the ground realities so that security measures and economic activities can be balanced during the next few difficult weeks.

The Prime Minister took note of the difficulties in the availability of some medicines and injections used by COVID patients and directed the Chairman NDMA to ensure that the required medicines and injections were readily available.
