PM Holds Telephonic Conversation with Iranian President, Discusses Ceasefire and Islamabad Talks

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation on Wednesday afternoon with the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, in a discussion lasting over 45 minutes.

The conversation was described as cordial and friendly, during which the Prime Minister appreciated the Iranian leadership’s wisdom and foresight in showing willingness for a ceasefire. He also welcomed Iran’s acceptance of Pakistan’s offer to host talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad later this week.

Prime Minister Sharif further conveyed his respects to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

President Pezeshkian thanked the Prime Minister and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States. He also extended his good wishes to the people of Pakistan and confirmed Iran’s participation in the upcoming negotiations in Islamabad.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
