Popular Pakistani series comes to an end

Lahore (16th Mar, 2020): Popular ISPR Production of Ehd-e-Wafa reaches conclusion with last episode aired on television.

According to reports, the drama which was supposed to be broadcast in cinemas across Pakistan was reportedly aired on television due to the rising concerns pertaining to Coronavirus, COVID-19. Private TV channel, HUM TV’s most popular series came to an end with last nights’ episode.

Given the interest of the Pakistani audience, the director had announced the last installment will initially premier in cinemas, however, given the circumstances, the decision as annulled and the serial was aired on HUM TV and PTV Home as per usual, considering the security measures and regulations initiated by the Government of Pakistan.

In lieu of the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the government had announced that cinemas and entertainment venues, such as marriage halls or other public gathering spaces across state will be closed down to ensure the safety and security of the public.

In a statement, the TV producers had announced that following the guidelines provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Grand Finale will not be released in cinemas, instead it will broadcast on television per usual, on Sunday the 15th of March, 2020.

The popular Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) and HUM TV’s collaborative project revolved around the story of four friends who drifted apart following an accident in school, which led to their expulsion. The four protagonists namely the SSG group [ as they referred to each other], came together during their time at the Lawrence College in Murree. However, when the friends are expelled for violating the rules, they go their separate ways. Ahad Raza Mir who spearheaded the character of Saad joins the Army while, Shariq turns to journalism, Sheheryar becomes a bureaucrat, and Shah Zain who belongs to a feudal family becomes a politician, respectively.

The last episode featured a fascinating twist with the addition of the characters of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman of the Indian Air Force and Major Humayun of the Pakistan Army, a direct reference to the capture of the Indian Wing Commander in early 2019, when the IAF pilot was arrested for violating the boundaries of Pakistan’s airspace. Moreover, Captain Saad, gets injured in an operation at the Line of Control (LOC) when he attempts to rescue an injured soldier of the Pakistan Army.

Coronavirus: Pakistani cinemas may suffer financial hit

The popular series directed by Saife Hassan, consisted of leading actors including: Ahad Raza Mir of Yakeen ka Safar (2017) and Yeh Dil Mera (2019), Osman Khalid Butt of Diyaar-e-Dil (2015) and Balu Mahi (2017), Ahmed Ali Akbar of Lal Kabootar (2019), Wahaj Ali, Adnan Samad Khan, Alizeh Shah of Mera Dil, Mera Dushman (2020), and Zara Noor Abbas Siddique of Khamoshi (2017-2018) and Parey Hut Love (2019), Vaneeza Ahmed and others respectively.
