Airblue has officially launched flight operations connecting Quetta with Lahore and Islamabad, enhancing air connectivity between Balochistan and the country's major urban centres.
The launch was marked by a traditional water cannon salute at Quetta International Airport on Sunday. Airblue's inaugural flight from Lahore, PA-503, landed at 3:25 pm and received a ceremonial water salute. A cake-cutting ceremony was also held to celebrate the occasion with arriving passengers.
The inaugural flight from Islamabad, PA-501, landed at Quetta airport at 3:45 pm. The reception ceremonies were attended by senior airport officials, including the Quetta Airport Manager, the Chief Security Officer and Airblue's Director of Operations.
Under the new schedule, Airblue will operate three weekly flights between Quetta and Lahore and two weekly flights between Quetta and Islamabad.
Officials of the Pakistan Airports Authority said the new routes would provide passengers with more travel options and improve access to air transport for residents of Balochistan.
The expanded flight operations are also expected to strengthen connectivity between Quetta and the country's major commercial and administrative centres, facilitating travel and supporting economic and social ties.
