Anant Ambani Pledges Rs 9 Crore to Fund Treatment of Two-Year-Old Boy Suffering from a rare genetic disorder

India: Anant Ambani, son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, has reportedly pledged to cover the entire treatment cost of a nearly two-year-old boy, Vedansh Singh, who is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, a rare genetic disorder. The estimated cost of treatment is around Rs 9 crore, an amount beyond the financial capacity of the child's family.

According to reports, social activist Mayuresh Gujar and his team were running a fundraising campaign in Mumbai to collect money for Vedansh's treatment. During the campaign, Anant Ambani's vehicle stopped near the fundraising team in the Lalbaug area of Mumbai.

After learning about the child's medical condition and the enormous cost of treatment, Anant immediately assured the campaigners that he would bear the entire expense of the boy's treatment.

He subsequently spoke to Vedansh's family through a video call and reiterated his commitment to providing full financial assistance. The family expressed gratitude for his generous gesture.

Vedansh Singh belongs to Haryana and is suffering from SMA Type 1, a rare inherited disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness due to the loss of motor neurons. Treatment options, particularly advanced gene therapies, are extremely expensive, making access to treatment difficult for many families.

Anant Ambani's reported decision to fund the child's treatment has drawn widespread appreciation on social media, with many praising the gesture as an example of compassion and humanitarian support for a family facing a life-threatening medical crisis.
