Egyptian Parliament Approves Military Deployment to Defend Saudi Arabia

Egypt’s Parliament has approved the deployment of Egyptian armed forces to support the defence of Saudi Arabia following a request by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
According to the provided information, lawmakers voted in favour of the defensive mission, which is aimed at strengthening Saudi Arabia’s border security and protecting key regional infrastructure.
The decision underscores growing defence cooperation between Cairo and Riyadh amid escalating security challenges in the region. Egyptian leadership has stressed that the proposed deployment is strictly defensive in nature.
The authorization comes amid intensified attacks on Saudi territory attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement, which has targeted strategic infrastructure, including airports and oil facilities. Egypt has said its support would focus on defending Saudi territory and borders, rather than launching attacks inside Yemen.
The parliamentary approval clears the way for possible military assistance if Saudi Arabia formally requests it; it does not, by itself, confirm that Egyptian troops have been deployed.
