FATF to Assess Pakistan’s Progress on Counter-Terror Financing Commitments

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has announced that Pakistan’s commitments and progress in combating terrorist financing will be assessed by the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG), keeping the country’s anti-terror financing measures under international scrutiny.

FATF President Giles Thomson confirmed the assessment following the watchdog’s October 2026 plenary meeting in Paris. The evaluation will focus on Pakistan’s reforms and its implementation of measures to combat terrorist financing.

The development comes four years after Pakistan was removed from the FATF grey list in October 2022, following improvements in its anti-money laundering and counter-terror financing framework.

During the same plenary meeting, FATF removed four countries, Bulgaria, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Monaco, from its list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, commonly known as the grey list.

Vietnam, however, remains on the grey list, with FATF expressing concerns over the pace of its progress in addressing identified deficiencies.
