Goat Feet, Chicken and Ghee Seized from Pakistani Travellers at Toronto Airport; Group Fined $1,350

Canadian border authorities have seized more than 16 kilograms of undeclared food and animal products from a group of passengers arriving from Pakistan at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

According to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), its detector dog, Aggie, helped intercept the items, which included goat feet (paaya), chicken, ghee and milk powder.

The travellers failed to declare the food products upon arrival, violating Canadian import regulations. CBSA officers confiscated the items and imposed a total fine of $1,350 on the group.

The agency publicised the incident on its official social media accounts on October 29, 2026, reiterating that all passengers entering Canada must declare food, plant and animal products.

Under Canadian regulations, the import of meat, poultry, dairy products and animal by-products is strictly controlled to prevent the spread of animal diseases, pests and potential contaminants and to protect public health and domestic agriculture.

Authorities warned that failure to declare restricted or prohibited items can result in confiscation, financial penalties of up to $1,350 and possible prosecution. Depending on the circumstances, inadmissible products may also be disposed of or ordered removed from Canada.

The CBSA further reminded travellers that even traditional food items and cooked products must be declared, as their admissibility depends on their nature and country of origin. Some products may require specific permits or health certificates.

Detector dogs, including Aggie, assist border officers in identifying undeclared food and animal products during passenger inspections.

The agency did not disclose the exact flight details or the number of passengers involved in the incident.
