Hanna Lake Dries Up Amid Prolonged Drought in Quetta

The famous Hanna Lake on the outskirts of Quetta has completely dried up after receiving no rainfall for the past nine months, leaving behind cracked earth and dry soil.
The prolonged drought has brought the lake’s water level to zero, severely affecting local agriculture and livestock, while residents are facing an acute shortage of water.
Local residents say the situation has become increasingly difficult as the absence of rainfall continues to worsen water scarcity in the area. Some residents are reportedly being forced to consider leaving the area in search of water and livelihood opportunities.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that there is little likelihood of significant rainfall in the coming weeks, raising concerns that the drought conditions could persist.
A resident of Hanna village said, “We have seen this lake since childhood, but today there is nothing left except dry soil and cracks.”
