Iran Hosts High-Level Talks with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye on Regional Security

Iran: Senior officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye held talks with Iranian leaders in Tehran on Monday to discuss regional security and efforts to ease tensions in West Asia.

The high-level delegation included Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Türkiye’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin. They met Iranian officials, including Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei and President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The talks followed a proposal raised during Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit to Tehran last week. Iranian officials described the engagement as an effort to promote “endogenous security” in West Asia, with regional countries taking the lead in addressing security challenges rather than relying on external powers.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said the discussions were expected to cover key regional developments, including the situation in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and the wider consequences of recent conflicts involving Iran.

Saudi officials have presented the meeting as part of continued efforts by members of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement to promote dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability.

The discussions come amid heightened regional tensions, including escalating attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement and broader confrontations involving Iran, the United States and other regional actors.

Pakistan’s role in facilitating the four-way engagement has drawn attention, with observers highlighting Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts to bring regional powers together and encourage dialogue on security challenges.
