LPG Prices Hit Historic High: Selling at Rs500-600 per kg

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices have surged to an all-time high, with the fuel now being sold at Rs500 to Rs600 per kilogram in various parts of the country.
According to Chairman of the LPG Distributors Association Irfan Khokhar, LPG is being sold at Rs500 per kg in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while prices in the hilly areas have climbed to Rs600 per kg. Household cylinders are being retailed at Rs6,000 in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and at Rs7,200 in mountainous regions. Further increases in prices are expected in the coming days.
Khokhar noted that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has fixed the official LPG price for October at Rs279 per kg, with the household cylinder price set at Rs3,350. However, a wide gap persists between the notified rates and actual market prices.
He urged the government to utilise the SSGC terminal and ensure immediate LPG imports to bring prices under control. Khokhar also criticised OGRA for remaining a silent spectator amid the sharp price hike and alleged profiteering.
