NCCIA Arrests Two Fake Army Officers for Defrauding Citizens in Karachi

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Karachi Zone has arrested two suspects for allegedly impersonating Pakistan Army officers and defrauding citizens of large sums of money, officials said.

Following a targeted operation in the Korangi Industrial Area, NCCIA authorities apprehended the suspects, identified as Muzammil, son of Badruddin Qureshi, and Hamza, son of Muhammad Aslam.

According to NCCIA officials, the suspects posed as senior military and government officers, falsely claiming to possess deep influence and high-level connections within sensitive institutions. Utilizing these fake identities, they systematically exploited the prestige of the armed forces to deceive unsuspecting individuals.

The suspects reportedly extorted heavy financial payouts from citizens by promising to facilitate official transfers, job postings, and other administrative matters.

An First Information Report (FIR No. 114/2026) has been registered against the accused. They face charges under Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), alongside Sections 13, 14, and 16 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Amendment Act 2025. Further investigation into the network is currently underway.
