Nana Patekar Has Long Held a Strongly Critical View of Pakistan

Nana Patekar has long held a strongly critical view of Pakistan and has repeatedly expressed opposition to closer cultural and sporting ties between India and Pakistan.
In 2016, amid a debate over a ban on Pakistani artists in Bollywood following the Uri attack, Patekar said that his country came first and that Pakistani artists were secondary.
In September 2025, ahead of the India-Pakistan Asia Cup match, Patekar again opposed cricketing ties with Pakistan, saying it was his personal view that India should not play against Pakistan when, according to him, “the blood of our people has been spilt.”
Patekar has also maintained a close association with the Indian Army. During the 1999 Kargil War, he reportedly obtained special permission from then Defence Minister George Fernandes and served as an honorary captain in sensitive areas near the Line of Control.
His repeated public comments over the years have reflected a strongly nationalist position on India-Pakistan relations, with particular emphasis on the Indian military and national interests.
