Not a single mosque has been damaged during the French riots: Trump has shared a social media post

US President Donald Trump has shared a social media post by actor Kevin Sorbo highlighting the absence of reported damage to mosques during recent unrest in France.

The post, shared on Trump’s Truth Social account, features a graphic bearing Sorbo’s profile and the statement: “Not a single mosque has been damaged during the French riots. Must be a miracle.” The image has a dark marble background, ornate gold borders and the hashtag #TRQD.

The post refers to violent unrest that reportedly erupted across France during the weekend of October 17–18, 2026. Demonstrations initially focused on the rising cost of living but escalated into rioting, arson and looting in several cities.

Reports described extensive damage to public buildings, businesses and other properties. The historic Limoges City Hall was reportedly set on fire, while prefectures, shopfronts and commercial establishments were also targeted. Authorities reported injuries among police officers, gendarmes and firefighters, alongside a large number of arrests.

Religious and community institutions were also affected. A synagogue in Paris’s 19th arrondissement was reportedly vandalised, while some Jewish-owned shops in Marseille sustained damage.

Against this backdrop, Sorbo’s observation that no major reports had emerged of damage to mosques attracted attention online. Trump’s decision to reshare the post further amplified the discussion about the nature of the unrest and the institutions affected by the violence.

The riots have fuelled political debate in France over public security, the authorities’ response, social tensions and the scale of the destruction. Religious leaders, including French bishops, have called for calm as officials confront the consequences of the unrest.
